Introduction to Grafting Workshop (September dates!)
Interested in learning how to graft mango trees?
We are hosting two mango grafting workshops this September! The workshops will be led by Shannon with Chris helping. The class will start with a grafting demonstration and discussion of the pros and cons of different types of grafting. Then you’ll jump right in with a mango rootstock and a scion! As this is an introductory class, you can choose to do a slash graft or a top cleft graft.

Everything you need to graft is included! You will get a 1-gallon mango tree for rootstock, Buddy tape, a mango scion, a razor blade, and a grafting elastic. There will be a selection of scions of popular mango varieties to choose from. Examples of possible varieties include ‘Fruit Punch’, ‘Orange Sherbet’, ‘Lemon Meringue’ and ‘Edward’.
The cost for this Grafting Workshop is $85 per person.

You must be 18 years or older to attend this workshop.
Your reservation is nonrefundable.
Space is limited! You MUST reserve your space in advance. Reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Can I purchase grafted mango trees during/after the class?
Yes!
Are there restrooms onsite for me to use?
Sorry, but there are no onsite restrooms. There is a Walmart about 0.5 miles away that you may use.
Can I purchase more mango scions (graftwood) and mango rootstock during the class?
Additional rootstock, scions and grafting supplies will be available for purchase during and after the workshop.
Can I get scions of ‘Lemon-esh’, ‘Tangerine Dream’, ‘Monty’ or other Truly Tropical original varieties?
No. The priority of this grafting workshop is to learn and practice how to graft mango trees. While we want you to have a variety you are interested in, that is not the primary purpose.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
The workshop will be held under a covered area in the shade. Unless the weather is extremely bad, we will continue the workshop as planned.
Who is leading the workshop? Will Chris be there?
Shannon will be leading the workshop. Chris will also be there to help and answer any additional questions.
Can I bring my own grafting tools?
Yes! We will provide you with a new razor blade, but you are welcome to bring your own tools (for example a grafting knife).
Can I bring my own mango scion to graft?
Yes!
